The Agricultural Research Corporation (ARC), headquartered in Wad Medani, was honored today, Wednesday, 17 September 2025, by the visit of Transitional Sovereignty Council Member Dr. Nuwara Abu Mohamed Mohamed Tahir and Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Professor Ismat Gurashi Abdalla Mohamed. They were accompanied by Gezira State Governor Mr. Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair, Dr. Arafaa Mahmoud Ahmed, Director General of the Ministry of Production and Natural Resources – Gezira State, members of the Security Committee, and the accompanying delegation.
The delegation was received by Dr. Amani Ahmed Idris, Director of the Technology Transfer and Knowledge Management Department and Representative of the Acting Director General, Dr. Mohamed Elbagir Elkhawad, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, and Mr. Mohamed Khair Hassan, Director of the Gezira Research Station, along with directors of research centers and general administrations, as well as numerous researchers, staff, and workers.
In her welcoming remarks, Dr. Amani extended greetings to the visiting delegation and made an apology on behalf of the Acting Director General, Professor Ahmed Hassan Abu Assar, who was unable to attend due to health reasons. She also delivered a presentation highlighting the major achievements of the ARC during the war period and outlined the key requirements for the reconstruction phase.
Gezira State Governor Mr. Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair praised the significant role played by the ARC and the remarkable achievements realized during the past period, confirming his continued support for its activities.
For his part, Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Professor Ismat Gurashi Abdalla Mohamed wished a speedy recovery to the Director General and emphasized the ministry’s commitment to overcoming the challenges facing the ARC and to supporting its research and development efforts.
